Our good friends, Wendy & James picked us up at our RV
and took us to the Petroglyph National Monument. This escarpment is 17 miles and is considered
a sacred landscape to the American Indians.
Archaeologists estimate that most of the images carved into the stones
were made 400 to 700 years ago. Some may
be as old as 2,000 or 3,000 years. Each
tells a story; messages left by ancestors.

This is the park overlooking Albuquerque with the Sandia Mountains in the horizon.
I lived in Albuquerque in the 70s and never knew this was there.
We suspect someone cut-out and stole a carving on the right side of this rock.
